- 2006 Acura TSX
Driving home 30 mins after buying my 2006 TSX i was shocked and delusioned of the 6k vtec crossover point(with a 7k redline). I just bought the 06 tsx and realized that putting vtec crsssover at 6k was just plain stupid especially with a redine of 7000 or 7200 whatever it is, once u hit vtec your littererally redlined but even without making an argument for that, I dont know what honda was thinking besides to highten the power at high rpms sine the k makes more torque in the low range is what i read, I dont see how it could be for mpg / fuel ecoonmy or emmisions I have a 6 speed and i switch gears around 3-3800 I just dont drive above that, but if I wanted to "get on it" for whatever reason why not have the vtec come on around 4500 thats an rpm no one drives aruoud at anyway unless they are accelerating, (which means theyre are trying to go faster)! so it cant be for Economy reasons., unfortunately mine is 2006 but still lucky enough to find a 6 speed with 100k in excellent condition, so I I have to change ECU to change Vtec crossover Kpro or KTunne), maybe tune in headers and intake, turbo later on, but right now that Vtec is my main concern however i want room down the road to tune anything that i modify thats my main concern later on if i change cams and intake obviously and a turbo a few years down the road I will need to tune more so which one ktune or kpro would be best to keep the ecu closest to factory with a few changes and which is just plain recommended overall. Keep in mind its an o6 so i need the Ktune kit that comes with some sort of ecu(what ECU is it, a factory honda tsx ecu? Thats what id prefer, or Hondata Kpro and use a 07 or 08 tsx ecu which would be ideal because 06 07 08 all have the exact same engine so it would be nice to have stock base maps downn the road to sell or just make the car stock again for whatever reason. I have a 95 accord DD so not worried about the immobilizer dealy of sending ecu and keys in. Im in California if that changes anything i may have to switch ecu back to stock for smogging.
1) why is Vtec engagement so low on 04-08 tsx
2)Which tuning kit it ideal for 06 tsx in my situation (having to swap ecus) Hondata with 07-08 Tsx ecu or Ktune kit with whatever ecu they provide.
